On April 15, Ohlone Humane Society (OHS) volunteers took 12 community cats to a San Francisco clinic to get fixed and vaccinated. As has happened before, some of the kitties from were sick and in need of extra medical care. Cats are domesticated animals, they need a home and human to take care of them! Unfortunately a lot of feral cats won't have a good quality of life because they don't get the attention they need.
The Siamese kitty in the photo is a good example. He has serious oral health issues- although estimated to be only one year old! He got special antibiotics and then stayed for extended recovery at volunteer's home for his tongue ulcer. Other examples are cats that require wound treatment and long acting antibiotics.
OHS has a TNR program to subsidize fixing feral cats, but there isn't funding for additional medical care beyond the spay or neuter. Now an OHS supporter has donated money to start a fund for feral medical needs. This is for cats undergoing TNR where the vet has identified an injury or illness that has a good prognosis with basic treatment. Help us build this fund by donating to this specific campaign!
